Match report

i11's bowling / WC batting
------------------------------

i11 won the toss and elected to bowl!

Sir meda started i11 bowling with tight line n length. Both Sir Meda and Prashanth got a wkt in their 2nd over. weekend champs 11/2 after 4 overs. But then Raja and Subbu from weekend champs started nudging the ball around and getting cheeky runs. i11 were bowling tight lines, few awesome balls, but then pressure would let off by a misfield or wide or cheeky single-double... weekend champs were thriving without taking risks... until Raja chipped a catch to cover and Surya grabbed it, Sharat's first wkt! Sharat got Subbu in next over, caught behind. At end of 10 overs, WC were 30/4. Highlights of this quarter - manny's 3 overs of express pace bowling around off stump! Its unfortunate that edge he induced stayed low and was missed behind the stumps, whenever batsman connected his ball they got more than deserved due to ground conditions or misfeilds :( Manny... we want you to bowl like this forever! i11 also gave 7 wides and 2 byes in first 10 overs. Take them out of WC's 30 and it is clear how much pressure we cud put on WC without them.

Harmit and Chirag from WC continued nudge n play game after the break. Next 4 overs yeilding 18 runs. They began to score easily without taking much risks. Naseer got us the breakthrough in form of Chirag, the ever-shuffling batsman in 16th over. By then WC had reached to 53. Sharat got the other scoring guy Harmit. Both Chirag n Harmit caught by Shiv @ covers. WC were folding up @ 56/6 however meghashyam @ # 7 took advantage of Powerplay and scored some fast runs to take WC upto 68.
Highlights of 2nd quarter: Sharp catching by Shiv, fiery spell from Manny, accurate spell from Meda, good come back by i11 bowlers after 15th over. i11 dropped few sharp chances in the field and were often clumsy. Time to fix our fielding and catching!

i11 batting
-------------
Naseer and Vaibhav started our batting, naseer got in the act with 2 huge boundaries in bowling powerplay over. 1-2s were coming easily with huge gaps. i11 were 21/0 in 4 overs - well utilizing bowling power play. However scoring rate dipped after that, i11 24/0 in 7 overs. Vaibhav got out caught @ sqr leg in 8th over.  Enter Prashant! WC payed the price of bowling on Prashanth's leg - nice flick of wrist, 2 bounces and accross the boundary. Unfortunately another flick carried to the deep sqr leg fielder and Prashant's elegant inning ended abruptly. In 10 overs i11 were 37/2. Starting fast, easying out and then left with 30 runs to win. Highlights - Naseer and Prashant's storke play, naseer and vaibhav's partnership.

With just 31 runs to win, with cool heads naseer n abdul, it seemed easy. However Naseer got runout - some good fielding and some bad running got better of him. i11 - 42/3. Naseer scored 27 out of those 42. Sharat came out and played few good shots, but then his mind froze, he went for glory and got caught in the deep. i11 - 49/4 in 14. Needing 20 in next 6 overs. Enter Kannan! Unfortunately this wasn't his best day. Kannan and abdul's partnership was still able to scrape through the run rate of 3 some how. Abdul had now begun to play more shots and find more gaps. i11 needed 8 runs in last 3 overs. We decided it was time for the ball to  disappear in the bushes, powerplay time. WC got their best bowler Raja, i11 had got Kannan, and kannan was not looking for anything less than 6. Unfortunately the ball kept evading the bat only earning 1 run on last ball. 12 balls, 7 runs to win. But we had 1 more Power play over, and still kannan was facing. Sadly for him, only to hear the timber shattering behind his back. With 10 balls to go, 7 runs to win, enter shiv. Next 3 balls, dot - 2 - 1. Now 4 needed of 7, Shiv's nerves would be settling now, but last ball of powerplay and Adbul's leading edge went high for a easy catch on last ball of 19th over. They crossed so Shiv has to go back to non-striker end for last over with 4 to win. Enter Surya. First up - Yorker, surya digs it out - its a dot ball. Surya steps out for 2nd ball, misses the ball, has a brain freeze and wants a suisidal single. Easy picking for WC wkt keeper - surya run out. i11 need 4 of 4. Perfect time for Sir Meda to appear! Almost everybody in i11 dug out imagining a lofted shot over extra cover or mid wkt, sir meda has done it so often with his confident lazy elegance. And sir meda lives up to the expectations yet again, a furious sir meda waft through off,  scurrying fielder at extra cover, and 2 runs for sir meda. i11 need 3 balls, 2 runs and again sir meda on strike. Sir meda steps out for next one but misses it. 2 of 2 needed now, and sir meda still got the strike. Next ball - sir meda tries a cheeky daft but gets caught @ sqr leg. The fielder holds on to this one and to sir meda's horror, he has not realized the fielder was there @ sqr leg. i11 are 8 down, have 1 ball to face and 2 runs to win now. Guru comes out, even a blind man can see how tense he is. He 'll face the last ball. Shivstanding @ other end is gonna run for anything. Another full ball, guru doesnt connect well but still scampers, the fielder calmly collects and runs towards the stumps to avoid any overthrows. Guru and Shiv have meanwhile ran hard and completed a single, the game is DRAWN!

A match thrown away by i11! We were in v good position to always win it! We gave extras - 9 Wides, 2 byes, 1 No ball. We let pressure off WC whenever our bowlers bowled 3-4 good balls. We should also work out the batting order a bit. Manny, Sharat should take confidence from their spells. Same for Abdul for his batting - well played. Another awesome batting performance by naseer. We got lot of talented but new folks, hope we get only better from here and make it through gold. We need to back our bowlers while fielding, we need to rotate strike better so that we don't have close finishes like these more often.

Details:

i11 started bowling pretty well; with Meda and Prashanth followed by Vaitheesh. Vaitheesh had amazing first spell.
After 7 overs Golden Seamers were 26 for 4.  Then two set batsmen Manoj and Ravi started gearing the scorecard.  They played long enough to set the damage for our bowling; i11 has tried all possible bowlers to break the partnership. Couldn't stop mentioning about Manoj who has played real good cover drives; displayed a very classic piece of batting.Golden seamers finished their innings with a very decent total of 97 in the allowed 20 overs.

i11 opened their batting with winning-duo of previous match - Naseer and Vaibhav. But, Naseer went out caught in early overs when the score was 11. Then comes the great-wall of i11. Vaibhav and great-wall kept the scorecard ticking; maintaing the run rate.  24 for 2 was the score when Vaibhav was out.
Dharmi and Geen supported Prashanth. All we saw was very classic piece of batting by our Rahul Dravid; trust me whoever was not part of the team missed that innings; hit 1 six and 2 fours (and those two's were actually boundaries!!). Awesome stuff, Prashanth. We need more like this from you :)
Prashanth left us at a safer side before he was out (74/4). Then we lost 4 wickets quickly - Dharmi, Shiv, Sharath and Surya; very unfortunate that 3 of them were bad decision by umpire. Part of the game!  Sir Meda and Vaitheesh finished the game in the last over.

Awesome performance guys! This helps bringing our confidence back!
Lets keep the momentum up, win rest of the games and enjoy the time together :-)

Can-you-believe-it trivia:
1. Prashanth hit a six on long-on!
2. Naseer dint drop a catch today!
3. Saw an aggressive side of Sharath! Oye Oye, there is a lion inside this cat!!
4. Golden Seamers hoped to win the game when Sir Meda was in the crease. Seriously? :-P

Toss: i11 CC won and elected to bat

Scores:
i11 CC: 64 all out in 19 overs
United CC: 66/4 in 16.4 overs

Result: United CC won by 6 wickets.

A combination of inconsistent batting performance from all players, and some bad bowling and fielders not backing their bowlers contributed to our loss today.

With this loss, we have definitely lost our chance to qualify for the Platinum Cup. But we now need to win all remaining 5 matches to have a chance to qualify for gold cup.

Please do back our captain up and show some will to win! I am confident we will be back to our winning ways very soon!

Go i11!!

Toss: Talons won and elected to field

i11 CC: 41/10 in 19.2 overs
Talons: 42/8 in 17.2 overs

Result: Talon won by 2 wickets

Poor batting by all, not able to take ones and twos and rotate strike, against a good bowling attack.
Amazing effort by our bowlers for their never die attitude!

We now need to pull our socks up and win all the remaining 6 matches, to even have a chance to qualify for platinum cup!

For the past three years since i11 CC started playing, we have only gone up the ranking ladder.

i11 CC is proud to say that never have we gone downwards. In doing so, we all have shared the happiness and sorrow of each and every win and each and every loss, as a team.  Now that we have settled well as a team, this is the right time to build on this solid foundation and plan for the future.

2013 season will start this weekend and keeping in mind the long term future of i11, we are happy to announce that there will be a change in the leadership roles in i11 starting this season.  After taking into account everyone's suggestions and feedback, here are the names of our new captain, vice captain and manager.

Captain        : Naseer
Vice captain : Deepak Singh
Manager       : Amar Meda

Girish will back Meda up in case he needs any help.

Please join  in congratulating Naseer, Deepak and Meda! Wishing them all the best wishes and are confident that you guys will take i11 to the TOP!!
Geen will also play a vital role in maintaining our team website (on weebly) and helping out anyone who needs help anytime.

Also as a part of involving more players in the dynamics of i11, we would like to suggest 4 player names who would be responsible to upload scorecards on cricbay.com

Prasanth

Of course, Naseer, Geen and Girish will always be there to guide and assist, whenever needed.

Brief Scores
===========

Toss won by : Hattrickers
Elected to : Bat

Hattrickers : 43/10 in 17.5 Overs (Amar 3/10, Singh 3/7)
i11 CC : 44/9 in 17.3 Overs (Raju 14*)

We had a dream start with amazing bowling by Sir Meda and Prasanth. Hatts were 4/7 at the end of 5 overs. Vaitheesh and Naseer continued the excellent bowling that we had and they were 5/19 at the end of 10 overs. After the break Hatts lost 2 wickets quickly and now they were 7/23 and we thought e could get them all out under 30. But Hatts captain along with another batsmen took 1s and 2s and reached 40. Deepak S wrapped up their innings by taking the last two wickets in the same over. The interesting thing is out of 6 bowlers we used, 5 of them got a maiden each, and  two of them were wicket maiden.

Chasing a low score of 44 seems to a an easy job, but Hattrickers had other plans. We kept loosing wickets at regular intervals and we were 7/24 at end of 13th over. Raju kept his wicket as he was watching his partners were getting out of irresponsible shots(including me). Meda joined Raju and they both kept the 1s and 2s coming in which gave us a hope of win again. Meda hit a boundary against one of their best bowler, but he was out in the next ball on his favourite cover drive shot. Vaithy got out very next ball and we needed 11 runs 5 overs. Raju took a single of the first ball and Pratik came on strike. Pratik kept his cool not loosing his wicket and gave Raju the much needed strike in the next over. during the same over we got 2 wides as well and we required 7 more runs. Raju hit a flat six of the next over first ball which tied the game.
Next ball , Raju flicked and try to run, and was almost a runout ! Next ball was flicked again and the ball stuck on the fence there by getting the winning runs. Thanks to Raju, Meda and Pratik who kept their nerves until the end to gave us victory over Hattrickers two times in a row.
